Special Counsel Zeroed In on Cohen Early, Documents Show

Special Counsel Zeroed In on Cohen Early, Documents ShowNEW YORK—Hundreds of pages of court records made public Tuesday revealed that special counsel Robert Mueller quickly zeroed in on Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney and fixer, in the early stages of his Russia probe. C-SPAN has much to recommend it, as these endorsements show. But like every silver cloud, it isn’t without a dark lining. Reporters and Congress-watchers love it for the convenience. Authors love it for the serious coverage of…

Michael Tubbs on universal basic income: ‘The issue with poverty is a lack of cash&#…Mayor of Stockton, California, is leading the way with a program involving 130 residents who will receive $500 a month over 18 months, no strings attachedOnly a few policy ideas have the potential to disrupt the racial wealth gap or poverty. Universal basic income (UBI) is one of them. But its promise depends on how it’s presented, its design, and the public narrative. It is variously framed by conservatives as a cost-saving alternative to welfare, by progressives as a poverty remedy that frees vulnerable workers from exploitative employment, and by some as a hedge against automation. And though various UBI schemes differ in their details, all provide unconditional money to participants, with no work requirements or limitations on how…
