North Carolina Basketball Star Says He Received ‘Over 100 Messages’ From Bettors Slamming His Nu…Ryan Sun/AP University of North Carolina men’s basketball star Armando Bacot admitted to being harassed by bettors online after his last NCAA Tournament game. The Tar Heels beat Michigan State 85-69 in the second round of the tournament last Thursday. Bacot’s 18 points were second-most on the team, and he added a team-high 7 rebounds. Though the rebound total was slightly below his average, he played well. For some bettors, however, it wasn’t enough. During a recent press conference, Bacot revealed that his social media accounts were flooded with people raging about prop bets that he apparently failed to reach. “I guess I didn’t get enough rebounds or something,” Bacot said. “I thought I played pretty good last game, but I looked at my DMs and I got like over a hundred messages from people telling…

Baltimore Bridge Collapse Disrupts Truck Transportation Indefinately

Baltimore Bridge Collapse Disrupts Truck Transportation Indefinately  After a tanker slammed into the Francis Scott Key Bridge near Baltimore, truckers are being rerouted. Adding to the disruption, one of the country’s Top 20 busiest ports has begun diverting cargo vessels. With a large portion of the bridge at the bottom of the lower Patapsco River and outer Baltimore Harbor, passenger vehicles and big rigs must use alternative routes. The region can also anticipate shortages of imported goods and materials that typically get off-loaded at the Port of Baltimore. “Aside from the obvious tragedy, this incident will have significant and long-lasting impacts on the region,” American Trucking Associations spokesperson Jessica Gail reportedly said. More than 800 cargo vessels have reportedly been impacted, and freight rates have spiked due to the news of the tragedy and closures. The Port of Baltimore reportedly led the nation in automobile transport in recent years. In…

Sonia Sotomayor Should Retire Now

Sonia Sotomayor Should Retire NowOn Election Day in 2006, Justice Antonin Scalia was 70 years old and had been serving on the Supreme Court for 20 years. That year would have been an opportune time for him to retire—Republicans held the White House and the Senate, and they could have confirmed a young conservative justice who likely would have held the seat for decades to come. Instead, he tried to stay on the Court until the next time a Republican president would have a clear shot to nominate and confirm a conservative successor. He didn’t make it—he died unexpectedly in February 2016, at the age of 79, while Barack Obama was president. Conservatives nevertheless engineered some good fortune: There was divided control of government, and then–Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refused to even hold confirmation hearings for Merrick Garland, Obama’s nominee to the seat. Donald Trump won that fall’s election and…
